SEP Tree Cathedral service set to go ahead later this year

Stantonbury Ecumenical Partnership has been given the go ahead by the Milton Keynes Parks Trust to hold its Tree Cathedral service at Newlands, near Willen Lake, on Sunday September 15 at 3.00pm. This is the last day of the National Heritage Week in Milton Keynes.

Last year’s service had to be cancelled at the last moment because of heavy rain.

Progress has been made with moves to appoint a new Baptist minister. The applicant for the post led a service at Christ Church, Stantonbury, in early April, following which a whole church (SEP-wide) meeting agreed unanimously to offer him the position. Negotiations about where he and his family are to live are ongoing.

The Team Rector’s post has been advertised and it is hoped that any interviews will take place later this month. Meanwhile the Rev Chuks Iwuagwu has agreed to take some services in the SEP following his official departure from St Andrew’s Church, Great Linford, at the end of May. This is before he and his family are due to move from Milton Keynes.

Further details of this and other events in the SEP can be found in this month’s SEP newsletter, available to download here.
